Yarny Goodness FAQ
- What does (2) mean?
- Why don't inventory counts go down?
- Why are the items in my shopping cart showing up as sold / not sold?
1. What does (2) mean?
The number in parenthesis following the name of the item on the vendor pages represents the show many of that item are in stock.
2. Why don't inventory counts go down?
You might expect the count for the items in stock to go down when you put one of those items into your shopping cart -- but they don't. This is because items are not reserved to you just because you put them into your shopping cart. Only once you begin the checkout process do those items become yours. And it is after this point that the inventory count for the items in your basket gets modified.
5. Why are the items in my shopping cart showing up as sold / not sold?
When you intially place items in your basket, you will notice that it doesn't affect how many are shown to be available on the shopping pages. This is done on purpose. This makes sure that all items are available equally to all shoppers. Only when you begin the checkout process are the items in your cart reserved for you exclusively.
If all of the items in your cart aren't available, you'll be given a message to that effect on the check out page. You can alter your cart by removing items, going back to shopping and adding different items, or emptying the cart entirely.
When you hit the "Buy" button that sends you to PayPal, all of the items shown in your shopping cart are yours. In case of a PayPal failure (see item #4 above), even though your current shopping cart will be shown as empty, the order you tried to place is still available on the my account page. From this page you can re-submit failed PayPal transactions.
It is when you begin the purchase process that the items are reserved for you, and it is at this time that the items are shown as "Sold" on the shopping pages. If your payment through PayPal ran into troubles, the items will remain in your order for three days reserved to you. Only if you don't complete the purchase or if you explicity cancel the order will the items show up again as available on the shopping pages.
